New tropical storm likely, and Bahamas could get just what they don’t need: More heavy rain
Thursday, 12 September 2019 () As the urgent relief efforts unfold in the Bahamas, a new tropical storm is threatening the Dorian-devastated regions of the island with the potential for heavy rains. The National Hurricane Center on Thursday said it sees an 80 percent likelihood that a disorganized mass spinning in the Caribbean will congeal into Tropical Storm Humberto by the weekend. The hurricane center said it likely will begin issuing advisories by day’s end as “this disturbance will bring heavy rainfall and gusty winds … especially in portions of the northwestern Bahamas affected by Hurricane Dorian.” The red "x" marks disturbance...
A tropical cyclone carrying heavy rain and strong winds is threatening the already devastated Bahamas, potentially complicating ongoing recovery efforts.
The new weather system, known as Tropical Cyclone Nine, has strengthened into Tropical Storm Humberto.
