Brexit: MEPs reject UK border plan as Dublin hardens its stance



Boris Johnson’s plan to break the Brexit deadlock over the Irish border have been rejected by an influential committee of European parliamentarians, in a blow to hopes of securing agreement from the EU. The Brexit Supervisory Group (BSG) of the European Parliament said the proposal to replace the controversial Irish border backstop do not come “even remotely” close to a compromise, and cannot get the support of MEPs.
