These swirling mini-maelstroms are similar to the whirlwinds which form here on Earth from dust and even snow. However, despite detecting the devils, Insight has been unable to capture one on camera. ‘We have seen the pressure signature of thousands of dust devils, and we have tried to take images at the right times of day,’ said Nasa’s Don Banfield. ‘We’ve caught absolutely no dust devils on camera.
