Parting with years of precedent, China abandoned its growth target for 2020, in acknowledgement that there is "great uncertainty" facing the country as it looks to restart its economy after the coronavirus outbreak. In his annual report to Beijing's Congress on Friday, premier Li Keqiang said that the country has made major achievements in its response to the coronavirus epidemic and that economic development was a top priority.
