The Justice Department conducted an internal investigation of the late Jeffrey Epstein’s 2008 plea deal with federal prosecutors in Florida after revelations last year that then-U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta, who later served as President Trump’s labor secretary, shelved an indictment that could have resulted in a lifetime prison sentence.
