Alexa McDonough, former NDP leader and trailblazer for women in politics, has died

Alexa McDonough, the first woman to lead a major political party in Canada and an inspiration to generations of New Democrats, has died. The former leader of both the federal and Nova Scotia New Democratic parties died at a care home in Halifax. She was 77.
