Union home ministry issues notification, CAA comes into effect

The Centre on Friday announced that the Citizenship (Amendment) Act will come into force from January 10. Under the Act non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be given Indian citizenship. The CAA was passed by parliament on Dec 11 and since then there have been widespread protests against the act in different parts of the country.
