Arrested terrorist ferried Jaish terrorists in December 2019 too: Officials
Sunday, 2 February 2020 Hailing from Kakpora area of Pulwama district in South Kashmir, Sameer confessed he had been successful in ferrying JeM terrorists to the Kashmir Valley last year and dropped them to Pulwama, the officials said. Sameer claimed he was not aware about their whereabouts since but told the interrogators that they were carrying large ammunition including 'steel core bullets' -- which can pierce through a normal bullet-proof vehicle.
PDP president and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and her daughter Iltija on Friday claimed that they had been detained at their residence to prevent them from visiting the house of arrested party leader Waheed Ur Rehman Parra in Pulwama in South Kashmir. Parra was remanded to 15 days of National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody on Friday following his arrest earlier this week for allegedly conspiring with Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists to get their support during the 2019 parliamentary elections. Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party Chief Mehbooba Mufti on November 27 said that she has been "illegally detained yet again". She took to her Twitter handle and alleged that her daughter Iltija also has been placed under house arrest. Heavy security deployed at her residence in Srinagar. "JandK administration has refused to allow me to visit party leader Waheed-Ur-Rehman's family in Pulwama", she claimed. Mufti was released on October 14 after being in detention from August 05 last year following the abrogation of Article 370.
The people of Kashmir Valley celebrated the annual Urs of Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA), popularly known as Peer Dastageer Sahib with full enthusiasm. Devotees offered prayers at Dastageer Sahib in Srinagar. As per Islamic calendar, the Urs begins on 1st day of Rabi Al Thani. However, this year, shrines as well as devotees have to follow COVID-19 guidelines. The festival plays a vital role for the people of Kashmir.
In a bid to make education system stronger in Jammu and Kashmir, UT administration has started upgrading the educational infrastructure at Government Degree College Bijbehara of Anantnag in South Kashmir. Construction of 11 additional classroom blocks and two common halls are at full swing. The construction work on the ground floor of the block has been completed and shuttering for laying of floor slab on 1st floor is underway. The project work is being executed by PWD RandB department at a cost of Rs 10.31 crore. The project is being funded under the World Bank's Jhelum and Tawi Flood Recovery Project. The students of this degree college hailed the step taken by the UT administration. Although, all educational institutions are closed across Kashmir Valley but the construction work is in full swing as government has eased lockdown restrictions.
A BSF officer crawled 150 feet into a tunnel used by Jaish terrorists. The tunnel was used by 4 Jaish terrorists who were killed in a gunfight on November 19. The tunnel used was detected at the international border of J&K's Samba. Comdt Rathore of 173 battalion recovered packets of biscuits & other food wrappers. The ‘Master Cuisine Cupcake’ biscuits recovered is a Lahore based product. Its manufacturing date was of May 2020 & expiry date was 17 November 2020. People aware of the probe said attackers stayed inside the tunnel before moving out. Watch the full video for more.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a review meeting with top security brass in the wake of the killing of four JeM terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, and asserted that security forces have thwarted their efforts to wreak "major havoc and destruction". PM Modi said, "Neutralising of 4 terrorists belonging to Pakistan-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed and the presence of large cache of weapons and explosives with them indicate that their efforts to wreak major havoc and destruction have once again been thwarted." Hailing the security forces, he said they have once again displayed utmost bravery and professionalism. "Thanks to their alertness, they have defeated a nefarious plot to target grassroots level democratic exercises in Jammu and Kashmir," the prime minister added. Watch the full video for more details.
