Preparations for Independence Day celebrations are in full swing ahead of August 15. In Jammu and Kashmir, a full dress rehearsal was done on August 11 in Udhampur. Only eight contingents participated in the rehearsal. Authorities have imposed precautionary measures amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Children and NCC have been told to not join the event. COVID-19 patients protested on August 11 alleging lack of proper food facility and accommodation in Uttarakhand's Khatima. The patients are kept at a COVID care centre in Pantnagar of Udham Singh Nagar district. While speaking to media persons, an official said, "Issues regarding food and accommodation have been resolved. There are some cases here where children are also staying with the families as they didn't have facility to keep them away. Arrangement of home quarantine is being made for them." Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Uttarakhand has reached 10,432.

Andhra Pradesh recorded 9024 cases. Country has conducted over 2.5 crore sample tests so far.
Health Ministry Secretary Rajesh Bhushan in a press conference on August 11 announced that National Expert Group has been constituted for vaccine administration. He said, "Government has constituted National Expert Group for vaccine administration which will meet tomorrow. Their terms of reference constitute all matters related to logistics of vaccines, ways to address issues of equity etc. This expert group will continue its engagement with all state governments and vaccine manufacturers in India."
