With several potential COVID vaccines expected to see the light of day in coming months, Delhi Health Minister Satydenar Jain on November 28 said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government will vaccinate the entire population of the national capital within 3-4 weeks after the availability of a shot. "Whenever the vaccine is available in Delhi, within 3-4 weeks it will be administered all over the national capital with the help of our health facilities such as polyclinics," the Delhi Health Minister told ANI.
A 6-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh's Hathras died during treatment after she was allegedly raped in Aligarh. While speaking to ANI on October 06, Hathras SP, Vineet Jaiswal said, "A minor girl belonging to Jatoyi village of Sadabad area in Hathras was allegedly raped 15-20 days ago by her minor cousin, who is mentally unstable, during her stay in Aligarh. Victim passed away yesterday (October 05) during treatment and was cremated by her family." "A case has been registered under various sections against girl's minor cousin at Iglas Police Station in Aligarh district. Accused has been arrested and produced in a Juvenile court by Aligarh Police and they are taking further action in this case," SP added.
Hathras District Magistrate PK Laxkar met with Hathras victim's family and denied all negative rumours. He informed that family's apprehension is that the convict must be punished and be hanged to death. "I met with 6 family members of the victim yesterday and we spoke for about an hour and a half. I met with them again today to see their point of discontent. I deny the negative rumours which are at rife about my interactions with them. Their main point of apprehension is that the convicted must be punished and be hanged to death. I tried to allay their fears and told them that the matter would be tried in a fast track court," said PK Laxkar, District Magistrate, Hathras. "The media is not being allowed to access the site of the incident because the investigation of a crime scene requires privacy. The SIT was there all day today. There is no 'special' reason why the media isn't being allowed," he further added.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was roughed up by police on his way to Hathras at Yamuna Expressway, earlier today. He has been arrested by police under Section 188 IPC. Rahul Gandhi, who has been stopped at Yamuna Expressway on his way to Hathras, asked police, "I want to walk to Hathras alone. Please tell me under which section are you arresting me." Police said, "We are arresting you under Section 188 IPC for violation of an order."
As many as 4,906 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Delhi on November 29, marginally less than yesterday's 4,998, taking the tally in the national capital to 5,66,648, according to the Delhi health department. In a health bulletin released Sunday evening, the Delhi health department informed that a total of 64,186 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the city on Sunday, taking the cumulative positivity rate in the national capital to 9.08 per cent. Meanwhile, 6,325 COVID-19 patients recovered, were discharged or migrated from Delhi on Sunday, while another 68 people died due to the virus. So far, a total of 9,066 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19. Currently, there are 35,091 active cases in the national capital while 5,22,491 people have recovered, were discharged, or have migrated from Delhi.
A day after the Uttar Pradesh government promulgated Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance, 2020, a case has been registered under the ordinance at Deorania Police station in Bareilly against a man, who is accused of forcibly converting a girl. This ordinance makes unlawful religious conversion a non-bailable and cognisable offence. Speaking on the incident, Uttar Pradesh ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar said that in the district accused for forcibly converting a girl's faith and threaten her. "The first case under Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance, 2020 has been registered at Deorania police station in Bareilly wherein a man is accused of trying to forcibly convert a girl's faith and threaten her," said Kumar ADG Law and Order.
AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi lashed out at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on November 28 after he made a pitch for renaming Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar. Owaisi hit back at Yogi during a rally saying, “You will be renamed not Hyderabad.” While campaigning for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections on Saturday, Yogi Adityanath said, “Some people were asking me if Hyderabad can be renamed as Bhagyanagar. I said, 'Why not?' I told them that we renamed Faizabad as Ayodhya and Allahabad as Prayagraj after BJP came into power in Uttar Pradesh.
