Journalist arrest case: Siddique Kappan not 'illegally detained', UP govt tells Supreme Court

The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday countered the claims of Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) that Siddique Kappan was illegally confined, saying that they have no objection to advocates meeting him inside the jail. Kappan was arrested while on his way to Hathras where a young Dalit woman had died after allegedly being gang-raped.
