Outcry forces Kerala U-turn on new law

Following widespread condemnation from civil society and the media, as well as constituencies traditionally associated with the Left, the LDF government on Monday decided to withdraw 118A amendment of the Kerala Police Act that, in effect, gave police arbitrary powers to muzzle free speech across any medium.
