Cyclone winds bring sea birds deep inland in Chennai

Cyclone Mandous breezed through the city almost a week ago, but the winds it brought have sent more than half a dozen species of migratory birds far inland, especially the Kelambakkam lake. They include species such as the lesser noddy, Arctic skua from Siberia, birdled terns from Australia and sooty terns that only breed on islands on the eastern side of the Indian Ocean.
