Once again – as we warned in an article from earlier this week – there are spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War ahead – so hit ‘back’ now if you don’t want to have the monumental ending of one of this year’s biggest box office hits completely and utterly ruined!

Thanos is something of a polarizing figure – certainly, he’s the Big Bad of the Marvel Universe right now, having effectively wiped out half of the universe’s population with the click of his fingers at the end of Infinity War (meaning we lost a ton of named heroes such as Black Panther, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and all of the Guardians of the Galaxy bar Rocket Raccoon), but he was presented in a very interesting way indeed throughout the movie’s narrative. The otherworldly villain was shown to have genuinely struggled with his decision to decimate life itself – having apparently weighed his decision carefully to the extent where he even decided to sacrifice his daughter figure, Gamora, in order to pursue his quest for the Soul Stone and to achieve his ultimate goal.

Thanos is so polarizing that a Reddit community, /r/ThanosDidNothingWrong, has existed for some time – apparently extolling the virtues of the big purple meanie and his ultimate decision to use the Infinity Gauntlet. This community has been doing the rounds lately, however, as it has recently announced that it too, like Thanos, will be decimating half its population – which, at present, looks to be in the region of 170,000 users and counting. The automated 50/50 chance of you being banned from the Subreddit will come into play as of July 9th – meaning that only half of those currently subscribed, providing they are active users, will survive the snap.

It’s a brilliant social experiment and one which plays tribute to Infinity War, which still appears to be generating buzz even months after it first debuted – to say the movie has been something of a phenomenon is putting it mildly! Reddit’s Thanos Did Nothing Wrong community will halve its active users soon – meaning that it won’t be long before its subscribers find out whether or not they were spared or sacrificed by the colossal finger-clicker himself.
