A car bomb targeted a British security contractor's compound in the Afghan capital Kabul opening the way for gunmen who battled security forces only hours after President Ashraf Ghani outlined plans for peace in Afghanistan. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, which hit a facility of the G4S security group.
