Somali army says drive leaves 50 al-Shabab rebels dead

(MENAFN) On Sunday, Jun. 13 the military stated that more than 50 al-Shabab rebels have been confirmed dead in the last two days as the Somali forces increased security dirves in al-Shabab headquarters in the central and southern regions of Somalia. Forces of Somali National Army (SNA) have also demolishd al-Shabab headquarters and their hiding places in a lot of parts of the Hiran, Middle Shabelle, and Lower Shabelle regions in the central and southern regions, said SNA commanders to the state media. SNA commanders noted: "fifty al-Shabab members have been killed and many bases destroyed in the past 48 hours." The administration forces have increased their offensive operations to clear-out al-Shabab rebels in a lot of parts of Somalia, which has led to the terrorists losing more ground and undergoing heavy losses as the security operation came into its fourth week on June 14.
