Somalia: Security drive leave six al-Shabab rebels dead

(MENAFN) The military stated that more than six al-Shabab rebels have been confirmed dead in a current security drive in southern Somalia. The six al-Shabab fighters died on Monday after being discovered hiding in farmlands between Awdhigle and Afgoye districts of Lower Shabelle region, stated the Somali National Army (SNA) commanders. SNA radio said in a report on Monday night: "the troops killed six al-Shabab members during the operation which was carried out in Malimka, Sabriye, Balod, Binanka Balow, Mordinle and Isse Lugoole which are under Awdhigle and Afgoye in Lower Shabelle." The most recent action came as administration forces have increased security drives in al-Shabab centers and their hiding places in the central and southern regions of the country.
