*COLORADO SPRINGS, CO / ACCESSWIRE / February 3, 2022 /* The Exodus Road continues to raise awareness and funds to propel the organization's on-the-ground efforts to break the cycles of human trafficking around the world.

Dedicated to ending human trafficking, The Exodus Road does undercover, in-the-field work supporting law enforcement, cares for survivors, provides training, and also pursues fundraising and awareness campaigns to support these efforts. On Giving Tuesday, The Exodus Road launched a special campaign featuring real stories of survivors who have been liberated.

These efforts paid off, with a total of $78,829 raised through the month of November to help free those trapped in the vicious cycle of human trafficking. The Exodus Road had numerous generous sponsors match these funds for Giving Tuesday, resulting in a grand total of $118,571 to continue the fight against sex trafficking.

Thanks to the support of new board members like country music artist Craig Morgan, activist Edwin Desamour and international opera singer Soula Parassidis, The Exodus Road was able to rally community members from across the country to give back and learn more about the ongoing fight to end human trafficking. It's critical that people understand the issue and the impact that their donations can have in this fight, which remains a significant worldwide crisis as there are more people trapped in slavery today than at any other time in human history, according to the 2017 Global Estimate of Forced Labour.

In the lead-up to Giving Tuesday, which encourages donations and support for nonprofits each Tuesday after Thanksgiving, The Exodus Road shared a special campaign on social media, spreading the word about human trafficking and digital exploitation. The messaging included "making sure that kids are $NEVER sold," a campaign the organization has run for multiple years now as a reminder that children are being trafficked daily, and that should never happen.

The Exodus Road's 2021 campaign highlighted the heartbreaking stories of young girls who are trapped in sex trafficking- a striking contrast to their peers who are going to school, hanging out with friends, living a normal life. These girls were trafficked into a life of forced sex and alcohol/drug use. With donations from generous supporters and dedicated resources, The Exodus Road was able to support local police in the liberation of these girls. That is the primary goal of all of The Exodus Road's fundraising and awareness-campaigns- to bring about the rescue of people trapped in modern-day slavery. Thankfully, so many supporters took up the cause this Giving Tuesday helping support the nonprofit's essential work in fighting human trafficking around the world.

*About The Exodus Road*

The Exodus Road is a global nonprofit disrupting the darkness of modern-day slavery by partnering with law enforcement to fight human-trafficking crime, equipping communities to protect the vulnerable and empowering survivors as they walk into freedom. Working side-by-side with local staff, NGO partners and law enforcement around the world, The Exodus Road fights to liberate trafficked individuals, arrest traffickers and provide restorative care for survivors. Since its founding in 2012, the organization has assisted police in the rescue of more than 1560 survivors and the arrests of 870 offenders; numbers that grow almost daily. The Exodus Road's approach to freedom incorporates prevention and training efforts (TraffickWatch Academy), intervention (Search + Rescue) and aftercare (Beyond Rescue).

In September 2021, The Exodus Road launched TraffickWatch Academy: U.S., a free, online, multimedia training module that unpacks the complexities of human trafficking and educates viewers with methods for identifying signs of trafficking and how to intervene. The organization is also launching a similar training throughout Brazil designed specifically for law enforcement partners. In November, the nonprofit opened Freedom Home in Thailand to house survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. The Exodus Road combats human trafficking in the U.S., Thailand, Brazil, the Philippines, India and in another Latin American country, undisclosed for security reasons.
