Apple Is Cracking Down on Product Leaks – You’ll Have to Wait to Hear About New Productsby

Apple are undoubtedly one of the major players in Western technology and are thought to be in the top three for smartphones alone worldwide – not a bad turnaround for a company that was known for its alternative PCs in the 80s and 90s! Since the late Steve Jobs helped to usher in a new era for the manufacturer’s iconic iPod range, Apple’s product announcements and press conferences have become something of an annual event worldwide – and ahead of such announcements, it’s hardly surprising that there is rampant speculation about what the brand could be bringing to the table next. Products such as the iPhone X were somewhat speculated upon to the point of spoiling the big reveal in recent years, and while leaking information about Apple’s product line has always been seen as a fireable offence, the firm is now keen to profess that would-be leakers will suffer more than job loss alone.

In a leaked memo – ironically – it seems that the tech giant are set to go hardball like never before on those employees who offer information about upcoming products before they are officially revealed. Leaks of forthcoming products can be hugely damaging to companies – while on one hand they can ramp up hype and anticipation, they can offer rivals the chance to get ahead of the game. With Samsung having bounced back massively from a series of problems they faced with their Note range a few years ago, Apple has never faced fiercer competition – which means it’s time to get even tighter on what leaks and what stays concealed.

The reported wording of the memo, according some media sources, couldn’t be less focused on potential spoilers. “Leakers do no simply lose their jobs at Apple – in some cases, they face jail time and massive fines for network intrusion and theft of trade secrets, both classified as federal crimes.” This all suggests that things are set to get even more secretive behind Apple’s already protective doors – and this does mean, for those who enjoy speculating ahead of time, that they may have to wait their turn for official news as and when it arises.

So therefore – will rumors about the next iPhone or Apple Watch be at all reliable? It’s hard to say – but anyone wanting to leak in future will certainly be brave in doing so!
