It’s a measure of how deep the latest Stormont crisis has got that its largest party could seriously consider collapsing the Assembly. But the word from the DUP over the weekend was that they were not nominating a new First Minister to replace Paul Givan unless a new deal relating to the Irish language is reached. That would collapse the Executive and set the clock ticking for the Secretary of State to call an election.
