‘Star Trek: Picard': Brent Spiner, Jonathan Del Arco and Jeri Ryan to Reprise Roles in New Series
Saturday, 20 July 2019 The star of “Star Trek: Next Generation” Brent Spiner and Jonathan Del Arco along with “Star Trek: Voyager’s” Jeri Ryan, are reprising their original series roles alongside Patrick Stewart in the new series “Star Trek: Picard.
The cast for the series was unveiled along with a trailer at Comic-Con on Saturday.
“Picard represents the ideal captain not just as a philosopher but as a human being,” co-showrunner Alex Kurtzman said of his view of the character.
During the Television Critics Association Press Tour earlier this year, co-showrunner Kurtzman teased a Picard that may look quite different for fans of the series. “It’s been 20-plus years, so he couldn’t possibly be that same person anymore,” Kurtzman said. “Next Generation” ended in 1994 and Stewart’s Picard was last seen in the 2002 film, “Star Trek: Nemesis.”
The series also stars Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera and Michelle Hurd. “Star Trek: Discovery” alum Hanelle Culpepper will direct the first two episodes.
It will be produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Kurtzman, Michael Chabon, Akiva Goldsman, James Duff, Patrick Stewart, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth will serve as executive producers. Aaron Baiers (Secret Hideout) will serve as co-executive producer, and Kirsten Beyer will serve as supervising producer. Michael Chabon has been named showrunner.
No premiere date has been announced, but the show is slated to debut at the end of 2019.
