SEATTLE -- Traffic cameras could be coming to West Seattle in an attempt to catch those violating the rules on when to use the lower Spokane Street bridge. The Seattle City Council will consider legislation Tuesday that will expand automated traffic cameras that can read license plates to the West Seattle bridge corridor. With the main West Seattle Bridge closed indefinitely due to expanding cracks in the span, the lower Spokane Street Bridge remains the only way to drive across the Duwamish River in that area. However, traffic is restricted on that bridge to transit, emergency vehicles and school buses between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.
