There doesn’t seem to be a day goes by without there being a new scoop or dramatic movement at the very top of US government – Donald Trump, arguably, has been one of the most interesting – and controversial – statesmen of our times, and with it he has brought a team of professionals who, variously, have been captured in the media at very inopportune moments. Sean Spicer, of course – the Press Secretary to Trump – was this week grabbing headlines and Twitter memes after having been reportedly ‘hiding behind bushes’ to avoid reporters following the removal of FBI director James Comey. Spicer, in fact, may well be on the chopping block – if claims from Axios are to be believed, and if a telling interview from Trump via Fox News is anything to go by.
Trump, firstly, dodged questions in interview over the weekend over whether or not Spicer would remain Press Secretary – instead advising that he had been facing a variety of challenges. Axios, however, report something far more interesting – that Trump may be considering a complete overhaul of his top team, including that of Steve Bannon and Reince Priebus – in a move to try and revolutionize his Presidency. It’s also rumored that Trump may be considering hiring a number of Fox News staff to join his communications team, however, such claims are yet to be verified.
Trump’s preference for Fox News is no secret, as the President himself has advised that they are his preferred source of journalism – and the former Apprentice star has famously decried much external media for propagating what he has termed to be fake news. The same Presidency – at least thanks to KellyAnne Conway – also put about the phrase ‘alternative facts’ when it came to disparity between crowds attending Trump’s inauguration and Obama’s inauguration some years before. This is a government like no US citizen has seen before – one which is vocally at war with much of the media, and one which has shown clear enough preference for one outlet to consider them to be close allies. Where will the drama end?
It’s not clear – there doesn’t seem to be a week that goes by without there being a new development in the Trump story – and rest assured, we will always be here to verify the true stories from the fake ones – and we’ll be your source on all things Trump as soon as they arise!
