John A. Macdonald
Wednesday, 8 August 2018 () A statue of former prime minister John A. Macdonald will be removed from the front entrance of Victoria City Hall as a gesture of reconciliation with First Nations, says the city's Mayor Lisa Helps.
Environment Minister Catherine McKenna says removing statues is not the way to reconcile bad moments in Canadian history. Victoria has taken down a statue of Sir John A. Macdonald, who had a role in establishing residential schools.
