The Week in News: September 15th - September 21stby 👨‍💻 Graham Pierrepoint

Another seven days have been and gone, and here we are, well into fall, or autumn as you may like to call it – and headlines are dropping on us like leaves! If you’ve been unable to catch up with world news recently, or need access to a digest of some of the biggest stories from this past week, we’re here to help water things down for you. Here are our picks for the most interesting stories of the week.

Brexit Goes Bonkers
The UK perhaps took a bit of a back seat in world news recently with Brexit moving along in the background – though it seems things are far from agreed upon. Very public and recent concerns displayed by both the EU and UK Prime Minister Theresa May over her designs on a Brexit deal have all but plunged talks into something of a media frenzy. Both the EU and the UK want to reach a deal, if at all possible, by November – but breakdowns in talks seem to be suggesting that a ‘no deal’ Brexit may well be on the cards. Who’s to say – keep your eye on the news!

Sony Unleash a Mini PlayStation
Keen to monopolize on the nostalgia train that seems to very much still be in progress, at least with regard to video games, Sony this week announced that they would be putting forward their own classic collection of PlayStation games, upscaled in HD. Gamers will be able to enjoy the likes of Final Fantasy VII and Tekken 3 all over again without having to swap discs out or fiddling around with outdated TV cables. It’ll be released later this year.

Big Stars Take Home Their Emmys
The Emmy Awards, which celebrate the best in US and international television, were delivered to recipients this week, with big winners in the form of Game of Thrones, The Americans, The Crown and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. Big stars such as Peter Dinklage, Bill Hader, Alex Borstein and – for the first time ever – Henry Winkler – took statuettes home this week.

Elon Musk Is Getting Sued by Vernon Unsworth
He’s one of the rescue divers involved in the assistance of getting several Thai children and their coach to safety during a cave flood earlier this year – and he’s also been on the receiving end of accusations of being a ‘pedo guy’ by tech entrepreneur Elon Musk having rejected his proposals for a submarine. The latest twist in the tale? Unsworth is taking Musk to court for defamation – just weeks after Musk claimed on Twitter that it was ‘strange’ he hadn’t yet been sued despite legal advice he had received. Oh dear.
