Analysis: In budget, Trump to ask Congress for $8.6 billion for border wall
Sunday, 10 March 2019 By Roberta Rampton WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump on Monday will ask the U.S. Congress for an additional $8.6 billion to help pay for his promised wall on the U.S-Mexico border to combat illegal immigration and drug trafficking, officials familiar with his 2020 budget request told Reuters. The demand, which drew swift criticism from Democrats, is more than six times what Congress allocated for border projects in each of the past two fiscal years, and 6 percent more than Trump has corralled by invoking emergency powers this year
Trump is expected to ask for an additional $8.6 Billion in wall funding. The additional funds are expected to be a part of the White House annual budget proposal to Congress. The money would allow for construction of 722 miles of barrier wall on the U.S. - Mexico border.
Securing the border is not racism. Democrats need to stop pretending it is. The right battle for my party is over where to get the money for a wall.
