The development has come as a surprise for observers and space scientists as the Turkish Space Agency was established merely in December 2018. Back then, Turkish lawmakers had criticized President Erdogan for hurriedly establishing the agency through a presidential decree, without going through consultations and following prescribed legislative procedure.
