Hair loss, unfortunately, is a fact of life for many men – and even women – it’s a sign of getting older, a hereditary trait, and can even be considered a sign of high levels of testosterone. However you view hair loss, there’s many different ways to cope with it. Some of us spend our wages on finding cures and lotions – while others decide to embrace the loss and just go for a full shave. Intrusive media hasn’t been kind in recent past to point out that the UK’s Prince William has steadily lost hair over the past few years – though his recent move to shave his head completely has been met with some surprise. It’s a modern haircut that certainly puts the Prince back in the frame as being a monarch for the 21st century – but some reports are suggesting that an exorbitant amount of cash was handed over in the bargain.
A head shave for most men will cost somewhere in the region of, say, $10 – but some sources quickly spread that William’s recent hairdo (or should that be hairdon’t?) cost somewhere in the region of $250 (£180) – making what is essentially a temporary cosmetic measure rather expensive indeed. It’s not entirely clear where such reports came from, though it is reported that the Prince sought advice from wife Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, on a new outlet for hair-trimming. Let’s not take this concept of $250 having been forked out for a hairdo as red, however – as some sources suggest that the prince has found the story somewhat amusing.

Daily Mail Royal Correspondent Rebecca English has suggested that William has supposedly ‘laughed off’ the reports that he’s shelled out such an amount for a quick trim – and that he’s normally keen to take a home clipper to himself wherever necessary. Nice to know that even British royalty aren’t too proud to go the simple route wherever possible! Is there any truth to this expensive shave story? It does rather beg the question – just how good a shave could it be at 25x the price of a standard clip?
Prince William’s latest look has been seized upon by world media – at a time when he and Kate are approaching the birth of their third child, and are currently attending various events and tours. Don’t be afraid to go bald – follow British royalty’s example!
