Shepherd athletic department is constantly giving back to the community...> in fact -- shepherd volleyball has teamed up with a national organization called team impact -- giving one middle schooler the chance to experience college a few years early...> allie berube introduces you to the newest ram....> << "i love playing volleyball because i play volleyball at school and i'm a pro."
Meet angelina seal -- a 12 year old girl from hedgesville who has joined shepherd volleyball "she's one of the volleyball players here."
"when she comes into the gym -- she brightens it up everyone's in a better mood."
"she loves the sport probably as much as any of us do -- maybe even a little more."
She's signed her letter of intent -- nats found her place in the locker room -- nats and helps run practices for her shepherd teammates -- but this young ram stands out from the rest "her condition is lumbo sacral agenisis."
Her parents say she sits in buddha position -- often in a wheelchair -- but it never slows her down "first day you know we're all meeting her -- hi angelina how are you -- i'm seone -- this is peyton -- you're angelina whatever all that stuff and as soon as we were done she was like can we go play volleyball" lina joined the rams through team impact -- an organization that pairs athletic teams with kids all over the country "and it's fun to hang out with the girls -- and eat mcdonalds whenever we want to."
"the point of a team is to pick each other up sometimes and so i just hope we can do that for her too."
"for lina -- the chance to join shepherd volleyball is once in a lifetime -- but her parents hope that more kids with disabilities are inspired to join team impact."
"she has role models in sports that she normally could not participate in and they're making dreams come true for kids like her."
