a devestating day for students and staff at couer d'alene high school good evening, thanks for staying with kxly 4... you're watching nightside. i'm grace ditzler--- aaron luna has the night off. earlier this afternoon..... couer d'alene high school principal, troy schueller died of an apparent suicide. the school district says troy schueller was found in his home.he was taken to kootenai health, and passed away around 2 p-m.according to the district's website -- schueller worked at coeur d'alene high for 8 years as an assistant principal, and two years as principal.he is survived by his wife, two children, and a granddaughter. kxly4's annie bishop is following this developing story... and annie.. classes canceled tomorrow... that's to give kids, staff, teachers... parents... time and space to grieve.principal schueller, by all accounts was an incredible leader...teacher....... and family man. he was well loved in the coeur d'alene community. a tough day at coeur d'alene high school.it's here where principal troy scheuller....inspired and encouraged hundreds of students.schueller died this afternoon at kooteni medical center from an self inflicted inury.counselors on campus tonight... helping students and staff through this incredibly difficult time. couer d'alene school district superintendent stan olson releasing this heartfelt statement: "words cannot express the sadness that i feel and that is shared by our school board, our staff and our community by this loss. this is a young man that was respected and appreciated by not only our students and staff but by anyone who knew him . . this is a horrific incident that we all need to help each other recover from, and this will not be over in an hour or day or week. it will take time and focus and effort. the district will do all we can."casey morrisroe, chairman of the board of trustees writes: troy was a great husband, father and friend. his death is tragic and will leave a hole in our hearts for a long time. my thoughts and prayers go out to his family." our thoughts and prayers also with couer d'alene high and troy scheuller's family. even though school is canceled tomorrow... there will be counselors on campus for anyone who needs someone to talk to and help process this shocking news. reporting live, annie bishop kxly
