China Takes its First Step Towards Exploring the Dark Side Of The Moon

China has launched a new spacecraft headed to the dark side of the moon.

????The China National Space Station announced it’s Queqiao relay satellite will hang around the moon’s far side, waiting for the Chang’e 4 land-rover to launch in November or December.

????Queqiao -- which means “bridge of magpies” -- will transmit commands from Earth to the new rover, according to Space.com ????It will also be carrying a radio-astronomy package that will allow it to measure things like early universe radio emissions as well as study space weather.

????In the coming years, China hope to hold a permanent presence of the moon's surface.

????And while agencies like NASA in the U.S. are facing budget limitations, China is only ramping up its space efforts.

????With plans to send a probe to Mars around 2020 and its own fully operational permanent space station by 2022, according to CNN.
