Microsoft Officially Acquires Github For $7.5 Billion

According to Business Insider, Microsoft has acquired the developer platform GitHub for $7.5 billion.

Following the move, GitHub said it now has over 30 million developers using its platform, an increase of 3 million from June.

GitHub will be run by Nat Friedman, the CEO of another Microsoft acquisition, Xamarin.

According to Friedman, GitHub will be a cornerstone of Microsoft's newfound leadership position in the world of open-source software.
