Police probe protest targeting Tucker Carlson's D.C. home

NATS Police in the nation's capital have opened a criminal investigation in response to this scene outside the home of Fox News personality Tucker Carlson on Wednesday night.

A group of about 20 protesters from the group Smash Racism calling Carlson of being a quote "racist scumbag" and demanding he "leave town," saying his rhetoric on Fox News promotes hatred against minorities.

Carlson told the Washington Post he was in the Fox newsroom when he received multiple alarming texts, and called his wife to find out what was wrong.

She had locked herself in a pantry and called the police thinking the home was being burglarized, after she said protesters broke a door.

Metro police said they responded promptly to calls for help.

Carlson described it as not a protest, but a "threat".
