Brussels police fire water cannons at 'yellow vest' protesters

ROUGH CUT.

NO REPORTER NARRATION.

Belgian police fired water cannons and teargas in central Brussels on Friday (November 30) in attempts to diffuse protesters inspired by France's "yellow vest" anti fuel tax movement.

Protesters allegedly hurled rocks at the prime minister's office and destroyed at least two police vans in what started as a peaceful, but unauthorized demonstration.

Police said they arrested around 60 people before the protests descended into violence when people, many masked or hooded, tried to breach police lines, block roads or carried large fireworks.

Crowds protesting fuel prices and living standards disrupted traffic for three hours as they marched the streets.
