Protesters Gather at Walmart in Hoover Over Police Killing of 'EJ' Bradford Jr.
Protesters descended on a Walmart store in Hoover, Alabama, on Tuesday, December 4, to call for justice after the police killing of 21-year-old Emantic “EJ” Bradford Jr. In this video captured by journalist Janae Pierre, the group can be seen chanting and waving posters at the store.
A police officer shot Bradford Jr. three times in the back at the Riverchase Galleria Mall in Hoover on November 22 after an altercation erupted, NPR reported.
Hoover Police Department initially praised the police officer’s actions and blamed Bradford Jr. for the altercation, but were later forced to retract the statement after it was revealed that it was “highly unlikely” he had fired shots.
On November 29, a second man, Erron Martez Dequan Brown, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder of 18-year-old Brian Wilson during the Riverchase Galleria Mall incident.
