Students were picked up on the police athletic league bus at their schools, and taken, with a motorcycle escort, to wal mart.
There the students were given 300 dollars to shop for christmas presents for shop with a cop.
Tupelo police chief bart aguirre says 'shop with a cop' is a great opportunity for officers to impact students lives.
"just on the ride over, when we were picking the kids up at school, gave them a police escort, they were thrilled with the whole fanfare, i mean, they're the focus of this whole thing and they know that now."
Sixteen students were selected for "shop with a cop" by their counselors and school resource officers.
