‘Tis the season!??To thieves stealing the blender you ordered off of Amazon for Aunt Carol off your porch.??Not cool!??Of course it’s awful, and by the way, completely illegal for people to steal items off of others’ porches.??But, does your renters’ or homeowners’ insurance cover such theft???Well, as Marketwatch highlights, more and more people are falling victim to these thieves.??A just released study from InsuranceQuotes.com showed that of 1000 people surveyed, 8% said they have been victim to porch pirates.??If you use that to create an idea of what that means for the general population, then that would be 26 million people.??That’s up from 23.5 million people in 2015.??Thieves are even allegedly getting their kids to do the dirty work.

??The Harford County Sheriff’s Office posted this video on it’s Facebook page showing a young girl stealing a package off of a porch.??A spokesman for Insurancequotes.com said that most homeowners’ or renters’ policies do not cover theft.??However, policies very widely.??If you run a small business out of your home, there may be business policies that are more likely to cover theft.??ValuePenguin.com has some tips for avoiding the hassle of filing a claim altogether.??The site recommends always insuring your packages, preparing for in person delivery, using a lockbox, and installing a security camera.??After all, you don’t want to show up to Aunt Carol’s without that blender you promised her.??It would ruin the holidays!??
