Accused Russian Agent Pleads Guilty To Conspiracy
According to Reuters, a woman accused of acting as a Russian agent to infiltrate gun lobby groups pleaded guilty to a single count of conspiracy.
Maria Butina entered her guilty plea in federal court on Dec.
Butina was charged by prosecutors back in July for conspiring to take actions on behalf of Russia’s government.
Prosecutors accused Butina of trying to infiltrate the National Rifle Association while working with a Russian official and two US citizens.
US District Judge Tanya Chutkan scheduled a status hearing for Butina on Feb.
12th, but Judge Chutkan did not set a sentencing date.
