Russian agent Maria Butina pleaded guilty in a U.S. court to a single conspiracy charge in a deal with prosecutors.

Reuters reported that Butina admitted to working with a top Russian official to infiltrate the National Rifle Association and make inroads with American conservative activists and the Republican Party.

30-year-old Butina is a native of Siberia and is a former graduate student of American University in Washington.
