Waves Crash Ashore on Koh Samui as Tropical Storm Pabuk Sweeps Towards Thailand
A rare tropical storm was forecast to make landfall on the Gulf of Thailand late on Friday, January 4, bringing disruption to popular tourist resorts like Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, and Phuket, during the peak season.
Thai officials have evacuated thousands of people from the country’s eastern coastline, while thousands of tourists who have remained on the resort islands have been advised to seek shelter.
Tropical Storm Pabuk was expected to make landfall in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province near Surat Thani city bringing 50 mph winds and heavy rain before tracking into the Andaman Sea over the weekend.
