U.K. Looks To Gain Consular Access To Suspected Spy Whelan Detained In Russia

According to a report by Automotive News, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that an American detained in Russia on spy-charges, also holds British citizenship, and UK authorities have urged Moscow to grant them consular access to him.

On Monday, Russia's Federal Security Service said that Whelan, a former US Marine and the director of global security for auto supplier BorgWarner, was arrested in Moscow 'during an espionage operation.
