(SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) NEW HEAD COACH OF THE MEXICAN MEN'S NATIONAL SOCCER TEAM, GERARDO "TATA" MARTINO, SAYING: "The jump to Barcelona was too big and there was a whole world that I didn't know about - the knowledge of the world that is Barcelona, (and) then I went to the Argentine team, (which) have prepared me, I think, to face this challenge with much more maturity, and obviously, too, some years have passed.

So, I think I am mentally much more prepared for this type of job." STORY: Argentine Gerardo "Tata" Martino was presented on Monday (January 07) as the head coach of Mexico's national soccer selection.

The former head coach of the Argentine national team comes to Mexico after having won the MLS championship as head coach of Atlanta United.

The 56-year-old Martino lead the Argentine national selection that lost the Copa America finals in 2015 and 2016.

He also previously coached Barcelona in 2013-14 and the Paraguayan national selection, which he led to the quarterfinals in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Martino's debut with Mexico will come on March 23 in a friendly match against Chile followed three days later by one with Paraguay.
