Trump Walks Out of Shutdown Talks With Democrats President Donald Trump called the talks "a total waste of time." The White House meeting was meant as a negotiation between the President and top Democrats to end the government shutdown.

The partial government shutdown is now in its third week.

Chuck Schumer, Senate Minority Leader, via CNN Schumer asked Trump, "Why won't you open the government and stop hurting people?" Trump replied, "Because then you won't give me what I want." Mike Pence, U.S. Vice President, via CNN The House of Representatives is expected to vote on measures that will help reopen the government.
