WHITE FLASH 3.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) KYLE EDMUND, SPEAKING ABOUT ANDY MURRAY, SAYING: "He's just had an amazing career in a very tough period with other players who were basically you could say 'this guy's the greatest of all time or this guy is' and and those guys were all playing in the same period that Andy was playing in, so he's done amazingly well with lots of pressures off the court and pressures he's put on himself.
So just a great, true role model." 4.
WHITE FLASH 5.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) KYLE EDMUND, ASKED IF HE WANTED TO FILL THE VOID LEFT IN BRITISH TENNIS BY MURRAY'S RETIREMENT, SAYING "I'm doing the best I can in terms of myself and doing the best I can.
I don't know, it's a very unfair question to say you've got to fill this void because because he's gone, or something like that." STORY: Last year's Australian Open semi-finalist Kyle Edmund on Friday (January 11) described Andy Murray as Britain's best tennis player ever and a great role model.
Edmund, who lost out on a place in the final when he was beaten by Marin Cilic in Melbourne in 2018, spoke to the media soon after Murray announced the tournament may be his last.
Severe pain from his troublesome right hip had become almost unbearable, the former world number one said emotionally on Friday.
The three-times Grand Slam champion had wept as he revealed he had initially planned to quit after this year's Wimbledon but now felt Melbourne Park might end up his swansong.
Describing the Scot as a great role model, Edmund, Britain's top ranked player at 14, said Murray had achieved his success in an era dominated by players who could be described as the greatest ever.
