Robin sot: :07 "i'm lionel robin, owner of robin's in henderson, we've been here for 36 years..."

You could say lionel robin was born to cook...his father aristile robin founded robin's restaurant in henderson in 1942...he retired and closed the restaurant in 1961.

Lionel and his wife peggy decided to re-open the restaurant in 1974 and it soon became a cajun culinary mecca.

Robin sot :21 "crawfish ettouffee, frogleg ettoufee, seafood gumbo and believe it or not 36 years later i'm still serving the same identical menu that i started in 1974."

Robin decided to retire and close the restaurant a few years ago but that didn't stop him from sharing his love of cajun food with pretty much anyone he came in contact with.

Robin ff sot: 5:42 "i'm gonna teach you...you thought i was kidding?

And you thought you knew?

This is how you cook cajun" he served as the corporate chef for tabasco for 42 years bringing his unique flair and coveted dishes around the world.

Charlie sot: 41:25 "it's not who you know, it's who knows you, they all knew him"o'meara sot: 43:42 "he was the king of schmooze" his close friends and family remember him as a kind-hearted and loving family man who lived every moment of his life to the fullest.

O'meara sot: 56:33 "he had the world by the tail, that was on of the happiest men i ever met, very seldom you see him down."

His family knew him as "pop" and say that his love for his wife, son and two grandchildren was unconditional.

His son mark telling me quote " not only was he my best friend, he was the bast man in my wedding.

He was and still is my hero.

I love that man."

His grandson jake adding quote "pop was so proud of his family and shared his pride with everyone he spoke to.

I am the man i am today because of him.

I'll cherish every moment and memory i shared with him."

And his grand daughter ali reflecting on the inspiration he was to not just his family but everyone he encountered, saying quote "he was certainly one of a kind and his absence will be a great loss for us, however, his life will set an example for me to continue to aspire to be the best and to never give up no matter how hard things may seem" his death leaving a void in not only the culinary world but in the hearts of those who knew him best.

Charlie sot: 01:32 "you can put the recipe down and i can give it to you i can give it to...it's like a song ...you write a song...it's got the words, you have elvis sing it ...you have frank sinatra sing it...totally different....like lionel's ettouffee.

You can have all the ingredients you can have everything but it'll never be another ettoufee made by lionel."o'meara sot: 4:00 "he's gonna leave a big void...i certainly miss him" ll outro: chef lionel robin ...a simple cajun from henderson ...who will be remembered as so much more by people around the world.in the studio....jamie angelle news15 focused on family and the community.> ááátayloráá} funeral arrangements for robin have been set.
