Armed Police Respond to Attack on Nairobi Hotel

Police in Nairobi, Kenya, responded to reports of an explosion and heavy gunfire in the Westlands area of the city on January 15.

Al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the attack, Al Jazeera reported.

The incident was reported to have occurred at the Dusit Hotel at 14 Riverside, a luxury complex in the city.

Police confirmed that an attack had occurred and said the area was cordoned off, but did not immediately provide further information.
