>>>eve russo: how much have you aged in the last 10 years?
It's now a viral trend that's been taking over facebook.
>>>jaciel cordoba: but should you play along with the "10 year challenge"... or is this an attempt to*steal your informatio*?
Jamey tucker takes a look in "what the tech?"
It's a pretty fun meme isn't it?
You've seen it, your friends are posting photos on facebook.
Their first profile picture and their most recent, to show how much you've changed in 10 years.
It sounds fishy to me.
So i looked into it,, here's what we know: the meme was started about a week ago when a tv meteorologist from oklahoma, damon lane, posted his first profile picture in 2008 and his current one.
Damon has over 11?
Thousand followers, and many of them started sharing their own photos.
Within 24 hours, the 10 year challenge had gone viral.
There's a small group of tech experts who believe, even though it isn't some scam, that the information could still be used against you.
Insurance companies could compare the photos and deny someone coverage because they've aged more than others.
Or that the meme could be feeding data to artificial intelligence to teach it age progression.
I think it's just for fun.
Hey, if you're using your profile pictures through the years, facebook's already got those photos.
It knows what you look like from those photos and can even pick you out of a crowd in someone else's photos.
Sometimes there are just fun things to take part in.
This ten year challenge may be annoying to some folks, i don't believe we have anything to worry
