Stephanie stephanie caltrans district two is initiating emergency work at two locations on state route 299 west between big bar and junction city in trinity county.

Hayley boxes action news now reporter elizabeth zelidon joins us live from highway- 299 with what you need to know if you're heading out that way this weekend.

Reporter live good morning hayley and stephanie, emergency roadwork is expected to begin along state route 299 at seven this morning.

Crews will be clearing debris in light of recent mudlsides ... but they're also warning drivers to carry extra snacks and a cell phone charger.

888vo888 this warning might sounds weird coming from caltrans ... but if a mudslide were to occur you could be stuck for hours.

So here is a list of essentials you should have when heading out the door.

Snacks.

Water.

Blankets.

Emergency kit.

A full tank of gas.

And don't forget those cell phone chargers.

Chains are also recommended if you're heading up snow covered mountains.

These again are just as extra precaution in case you do find yourself stuck around a mudslide.
