Netflix Season 2 Of 'The Punisher' Marks 30 Years Of Onscreen Carnage For The Character
According to a report by CNN, the Punisher's return on Netflix this week marks a full 30 years of on-screen carnage for the Marvel Comics character.
In the comics, the Punisher was first introduced in 1974 as an enemy of Spider-Man, and at the time seemed inspired by popular gun-toting vigilantes of the time like Clint Eastwood's 'Dirty Harry' and Charles Bronson's 'Death Wish'.
Thirty years ago, the character got his first shot at the big screen in a low-budget 1989 movie starring Dolph Lungren.
In the time between then and Jon Berenthal's current depiction of the character, actors Thomas Jane and Ray Stevenson also starred in feature films focused on the violent character.
