BuzzFeed News Lays Off 15% Of Staff

BuzzFeed began laying off employees on Friday after CEO Jonah Peretti sent an email to staff warning them of the coming cuts.

Business Insider reports layoffs will affect 15% of BuzzFeed's total staff of 1,450.

BuzzFeed News, which has approximately 300 staffers, has already dismantled three desks, including its health desk, national desk, and national-security team.

The tech and politics staffs will remain intact.

About a year ago, BuzzFeed cut about 100 employees.
